The words of this favourite assembly song have very much featured in the last fortnight in the children's activities.
Form 5 children enjoyed a day of outdoor activities in glorious autumnal sunshine, including working collaboratively to design and build emergency shelters. Form 3 children have been out and about at the Salvation Army Rare Breeds farm in Hadleigh learning more about farming and farm animals in preparation for studying Roa Id Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox after half-term. Reception children have been out in the school garden using autumn 'jewels' to make their own natural artworks ... great fun was had by all.
This week has seen our annual harvest festival. Synonymous with autumn, our Harvest festival is a time to say 'thank you' to God for the food we have to eat and to remember those who rely on the support of organisations such as HARP (Homeless Action Research Project) for meals. HARP, Southend's Homeless Charity, deals with approximately 14,000 visits a year from people who need assistance with homeless issues. Your extremely generous donations will be put to very good use in providing hot meals for the town's rough sleepers or food parcels for families in temporary or emergency accommodation.
Children in the Pre-Prep and the Prep have been active in a number of sports fixtures in recent days ... Form 5/6 Tag Rugby, Form 1 /2 Multi-Sports and Form 3 -6 Cross Country. All of the children have, as usual, given their best showing great determination and sportsmanship. All children in Forms 3 - 6 have also been competing in inter-house matches in football, tagrugby, netball, hockey and cross country. These competitions will continue each half term with the results of all the matches . contributing to the final results and House Cups at the end of the Lent term.
Congratulations to all of the Form 6 children who sat their 11 + tests recently. All of the children gave of their best to produce a very promising set of scores. The percentage of children achieving a selective place for their secondary education will be published later in the year once all of the results from other selection tests have been received.
With best wishes for an enjoyable half-term break.
