A variety of drama learning
Our specialist drama teachers use a variety of dramatic techniques including drama games, acted stories, tableaux, improvisation, mime, puppetry, physical theatre and script work to provide children with a stimulating, creative and constructive learning experience.
Drama lessons at St. Michael’s allow children to:
Performance events such as the Form 6 Play, concerts, Christingle service, the Crib Service, LAMDA Examinations and the St. Michael’s Day Parade are vehicles for pupils to display the confidence and the dramatic and communication skills gained from participation in drama lessons.
All of our Nursery and Reception children follow the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus as part of our EYFS school curriculum. As children enter the Pre-Prep department, they continue their study of dance and movement throughout the schools’ Physical Education curriculum. However, children are given the option to continue to follow the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus as an extra-curricular activity. Throughout these sessions, our specialist dance teachers provide lessons which build confidence and self-esteem, boost self-motivation and teach crucial communication skills.
